Misty Love, a Detroit vocalist and award winner from both Las Vegas, NV and Detroit, MI
created the (DBMA) Detroit Black Music Awards . This organization boosts the recognition of the outstanding. Just like any award program this organization raises the value of the recipients; therefore being useful as a strong marketing tool. Ms. Love believes this program helps to assure musical careers for those that bring value to Detroit. In turn the value of Detroit as a vibrant city is increased.
So with that being said, The Detroit Black Music Awards was established in 2008 by the Misty Love to celebrate those African Americans and other minorities in the City of Detroit who are in music over the past year. Luminaries are awarded with an Lifetime Achievement awards and Special Tribute awards. The awards are presented annually.
